“April in Paris” Afternoon Tea

Oh là là!  C’était “April in Paris” chez Marlene’s Tea & Cakes le week-end dernier!  Mme Marlene outdid herself with a Paris themed afternoon tea, inspired by “April in Paris.”
“April in Paris” is not only the title of a book, movie, song, album, shop (and who knows what else!?) but it’s also supposedly the best month to visit Paris!

Like the ideal “April in Paris” day, the weather was parfait (sun was out, temperature was not too hot or too cold), the spring flowers were in bloom, and many birds a chirping!  With bal-musette playing in the background, one could imagine they were having afternoon tea in Paris!

Diamonds (April birthstone) and kisses were scattered on the tables.

We started off our grand Parisian adventure with two teas: Paris (of course!) and Pistachio, both were a delight for the senses!

Creamed French onion soup with mini Gruyère toast on top!

Oooh, Mme Marlene made croissants!

The savories and sandwiches transported our tastebuds to Paris with Croque monsieur, Steak and brie croissants, Niçoise salad in a mini baguette bread bowl (pan bagnat), and Parisian chicken salad in a pear cup.

The presentation was exquisite and the execution exceeded expectations! (photo by ML)

Strawberry scones and fresh fruit

The spring flavors of the desserts were spot on!  Raspberries, strawberries, pistachio, lemon, and chocolate (which is in fashion all year round 😉).

Incroyable, look at the mini ladyfingers on the Strawberry lemon Charlotte!  The pistachio eclairs were merveilleuse!  Quelle douce fin!  Joyeux printemps à tous!

April in Paris, chestnuts in blossom
Holiday tables under the trees
April in Paris, this is a feeling
No one can ever reprise

I never knew the charm of spring
Never met it face to face
I never new my heart could sing
Never missed a warm embrace

Till April in Paris
Whom can I run to
What have you done to my heart
